How We Got Started

In the the spring of 2014 Marty and Luke Medina walked into VIP. Marty shared the challenges Luke was facing and the road ahead. Luke needed a heart transplant and he trusted me to help be part of the process to keep his son be healthy and prepared for surgery. At the time VIP didn’t have much to offer in way of fancy pieces of equipment, but what we did offer was the fact that we specialized was Fitness and  our passion, commitment and fitness programming expertise.  Most importantly I believe  it was our common love for God and  overwhelming commitment in faith.

I vowed to do my best to keep both Luke and Marty challenged with fitness exercises and help make fitness a lifestyle. Marty agreed and so our journey began.   Its been over three years now and have been so very blessed with the opportunity to work with Luke and Marty. It’s not everyday you come across such an amazing young man and such a devoted parents.

Mother, son receive heart transplants with same doctor

Macedon, N.Y. (WHAM) – A Macedon teen is recovering from a heart transplant in Boston Children’s Hospital.

Luke Medina’s mother, Tina, knows the procedure well. Twenty five years ago, she too had a heart transplant at the same hospital – with the same doctor.

“No knowledge in the world prepares you for what you’re about to see,” Tina said. “Being the parent on the other end of it, I can really relate to what my mom must have seen and gone through.”
