Today I’m going to share with you the #1 thing you can do TODAY to kick-start your weight-loss goals.

You’ve probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you’re trying to lose weight or just running late, cutting out breakfast may be tempting. You figure you’re saving yourself some calories and you can stop at the drive thru on your way to work. Or to save time and calories you simply sip on a “skinny latte” all day.

But research has consistently shown that the people who successfully lose weight are the ones that wake up and eat!  Studies show eating breakfast consistently correlates with longevity and a healthy weight. And eating breakfast is just that, “breaking” the “fast.” Eating upon waking brings your blood sugar levels back to normal, kick-starts your metabolism, and sets you up to maintain a level metabolism for the rest of the day.

And eating the right breakfast fuels your body, provides long-lasting energy and satiety, prevents overeating and sets the tone for the entire healthy day.  It seems that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.  So “break” your “fast” every morning with a healthy breakfast.

What is a Pump & Run?

A unique combination of weight lifting and running! Entrants will bench press a percentage of their body weight to earn time reductions for each bench press repetition, with a max of 30 reps. There are 3 divisions that entrants can choose from: Open, Scale and Fun.

Pump & Run Awards:

  • Prizes for the Open division
  • Medals for the Scaled division
  • Ribbons for the Fun division

 

PUMP

Participants will weigh in wearing a shirt and shorts at VIP Fit Club at 11:30am on Saturday August 6.  Immediately after weigh-ins there will be a rules meeting to accurately describe what an acceptable rep is. (This will be judged similar to a bench press competition in which feet, butt, shoulders, and head will remain anchored throughout the rep. There will also be a distinct pause on the chest and in the lockout position.) The competition will start after the rules meeting.

RUN

At 2:00 pm, after the Pump component, participants will run a 5K along the Erie Canal beginning at Lock 30 and proceeding towards Canandaigua Road. There will be a half way turn around point and runners will finish at Lock 30.  You may choose to only participate in the Run/Walk along Erie Canal.   This  course will be a certified race course.

Cost:

**Preregistration (by July 20):

  • 5K only- $20
  • Pump & Run- $25

Race Day Registration:

  • 5K Only- $28
  • Pump & Run- $30

**The first 50 registrants will receive a free race t-shirt.**
