What is a Pump & Run?
A unique combination of weight lifting and running! Entrants will bench press a percentage of their body weight to earn time reductions for each bench press repetition, with a max of 30 reps. There are 3 divisions that entrants can choose from: Open, Scale and Fun.
Pump & Run Awards:
- Prizes for the Open division
- Medals for the Scaled division
- Ribbons for the Fun division
Participants will weigh in wearing a shirt and shorts at VIP Fit Club at 11:30am on Saturday August 6. Immediately after weigh-ins there will be a rules meeting to accurately describe what an acceptable rep is. (This will be judged similar to a bench press competition in which feet, butt, shoulders, and head will remain anchored throughout the rep. There will also be a distinct pause on the chest and in the lockout position.) The competition will start after the rules meeting.
At 2:00 pm, after the Pump component, participants will run a 5K along the Erie Canal beginning at Lock 30 and proceeding towards Canandaigua Road. There will be a half way turn around point and runners will finish at Lock 30. You may choose to only participate in the Run/Walk along Erie Canal. This course will be a certified race course.
